The Chicago Cubs' most infamous fan, Steve Bartman, turned down a $25,000 offer for an autograph, ESPN reported.

Bartman, who tipped a foul ball that Cubs outfielder Moises Alou was trying to catch during a 2003 playoff game against the Florida Marlins, was offered $25,000 to show up to the National Sports Collectors Convention and autograph a photograph of himself. The promised amount would have paid Bartman the most money ever for one autograph, the NSCC said in a news release.

"No one in sports memorabilia history has ever been paid $25,000 to sign one autograph -- not Michael Jordan, Muhammad Ali, Joe DiMaggio, Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, or any other athlete," said Mike Berkus, co-Executive Director of the NCSS.

But according to ESPN, Bartman's friend Frank Murtha said Bartman wasn't interested in the offer.

The proposed Bartman signing was scheduled for July 31.
