Investigators said that at the time of the shooting in Pacolet, Preston Davis was wearing a T-shirt displaying the name of his younger brother, Kelvin Davis. But Monday afternoon, police said that Preston Davis told them that the shooting was not related to the death of his brother. He said he shot Wheeler because he had been "taunting" him.Investigators said that after the shooting in Pacolet, Davis drove into Union County where he crashed his car and took off on foot. Police found the car, but could not locate Davis.Davis turned himself in to Union police, but the shooting is a joint investigation with Spartanburg County.Davis is charged with murder, pointing and presenting a firearm, and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. The charge of pointing a firearm is related to Davis’s pointing a gun at another person during the confrontation at the birthday party. On Monday, police also named two suspects in connection with last week's home invasion. Police are looking for Derrick Ruff, 27, and Patrick Troy Rice. There are warrants for their arrests for murder in the death of Kelvin Davis.Investigators said that Ruff is believed to be in Georgia and Rice was last known to be in North Carolina. Police said that they "narrowly missed" arresting both before they got away.Police said that they expect others to be charged in connection with Davis' death.
