Flooding Closes Road In Oconee Co.

Part Of Shiloh Road Shut Down

POSTED: 9:44 pm EDT August 28, 2008

Oconee County Emergency Services warned Thursday night that heavy rains in the Upstate have caused flash flooding.

The flooding caused part of Shiloh Road to shut down. The flooded area is between Carson Road and Wells Highway.

Emergency service workers had to help rescue a woman from a mobile home on J. Cobb Road near the area.

Emergency officials said they'd like residents to avoid the streets Thursday night and check road conditions Friday morning.

Officials also warned that if people can't see the road, do not drive on it.

The flood waters, they said, are strong enough to lift a car off the road and sweep it away.
