GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Two new tourism attractions for Greenville County were announced Wednesday. The projects, which will cost a total of $30 million, are expected to create as many as 1,000 jobs.Money to pay for the projects is expected to come from hospitality tax collections, as well as state and other local funding and private donations.
The Tourism Leadership Council announced the project at a news conference Wednesday morning in Greenville. One project, called The GO Experience, will located behind the Peace Center in downtown Greenville. The council said that the project will offer museum quality displays along with a visitors' center. The other attraction, called The Blue Wall Centre, will be located on the 175-acre former Camp Spearhead property. It will feature outdoor recreation activities like fishing and whitewater rafting. Both attractions are expected to be completed by 2011.
