GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The building where a Greenville businessman was shot to death more than a year ago was demolished on Wednesday.
Site of Homicide DemolishedKit Maddox was found dead at the store he owned, Bedding World and Antiques on Wade Hampton Boulevard, in February 2007.
Wednesday, Maddox's brother Ike Maddox was at the site to watch the demolition."I came down to visually get closure to the tragedy that happened to our family," Ike Maddox told WYFF News 4's Myra Ruiz.Ike Maddox said he went into the shop on February 22, 2007 and found his brother dead from multiple gunshots to the head and chest.Ever since the fatal shooting, Ike Maddox said the sight of the building has reminded him of his loss."Some days I can ride by and look and just remember the good times and it really doesn't affect me that much," Ike Maddox said. "Other days, I turn the corner and I see the building and I start tearing up. It's just an emotional rollercoaster."Nearly a week after Kit Maddox died, police arrested Joe Gaillard and charged him with murder.More than a month later, Gaillard's girlfriend, Lana Pegler was arrested and charged with obstruction of justice and solicitation to commit a felony in the case.
