A 19-year-old was killed by a car Monday night near Easley.

Troopers said that at about 10:20 a.m., a driver on Highway 8 hit a person who was in the roadway about a mile west of Easley.

The Pickens County coroner said John Daniel Walters, of Mauldin Road in Easley, died at the scene from blunt force trauma.

The driver was taken to the hospital, investigators said, but there was no word on the extent of the driver's injuries.

Troopers said that they do not anticipate any charges will be filed.
