Brandy Long, queen of the penny pinchers, says even with the rising cost of groceries, there are still some things you can do to save money in the grocery store. She says her best advice is to shop sales, use store and manufacturer coupons, and combine buy-one-get-one deals with coupons to get three times the savings.Brandy says another of the best ways to save money is to learn to cook. Start with simple recipes, and learn to use a slow cooker or pressure cooker. Use less expensive cuts of meat and use leftovers for next day lunch and/or to create next night meals
She says that there are tactics you can take that will save at the register. Most of all, she said get your self in position in front of the register and keep an eye on cashiers, because money can be saved by catching mistakes that commonly happen during check out. Watch each item as it is rung up to be sure the price and quantity is correct and that coupons have been deducted. And be sure to check your receipt before leaving the store.
