GREENVILLE, S.C. -- It's become one of the busiest businesses in Greenville County.A sharp rise in home foreclosures has resulted in big business for process servers.Process servers are the people who deliver the bad news that someone's home is being foreclosed.
The owner of Serve One in Greenville says since Jan. 1 his workload has increased more than 50 percent.Jeff Bannister said his business is one of the few that gets better when the housing market falls.Bannister said he's been in the process-serving business since 1987 and he has never seen such a boom.News 4's Gordon Dill had a ride-along with Bannister in the Berea area. When they arrived at a home being foreclosed it looked to be already vacant.Bannister said there are at least 100 process servers in Greenville and all of them are busy because there are so many people losing their homes.
